What's Up?

So It's been almost a month so I've posted on here and I don't feel good about it. I feel like I just needed a month to really get into my routine and be the busy overcommitted college student that I am. This past month has been so crazy. Here are just few things that happened:
I had an exam in all 6 of my classes, our Alpha Phi Omega Chapter chartered, we pledged 55 new members into our chapter, I joined 3 new clubs, I traveled home for a baby shower, my family visited for family weekend, I was caught in a torrential downpour at a tailgate, I went to a country festival, I (finally) learned how to find the derivative of an equation, I went blonder, and like 90 other things. I really hope I can step up my blogging game this month and hopefully put out some good content here, and if I'm luck on my youtube channel.

Make sure you're following along on Facebook and bloglovin so you can keep up to date with posts!

Life Update

Okay guys. So remember when I said I was going to try and post at least twice a week, well I feel like I said that only a couple of days ago, but according to my calendar, that was almost two weeks ago. yikes. I moved into my sophomore year dorm August 21st, and since then, my life has been quite the whirlwind! From takes 19 credit hours, to being on the executive board of two campus organizations, to spontaneous trips to concert and dinners, I feel like I've hardly had time for myself, let alone to dedicate to my blog. I've already submitted applications to two more campus organizations that I really hope to be involved in this semester, so it's safe to say it's definitely not going to get any easier for me.
That being said, I'm having the time of my life so far. I LOVE being busy and accomplishing so much each day. Labor day weekend for me was kind of a blur as it started off at Red White & Boom, a country festival in Lexington Ky. Although CM and I only went to one day, I was left super drained from that and my first full week of classes and did not utilize my free time the rest of the weekend productively. This  weekend, I was able to get much more done and am feeling much better going in to this week, so hopefully more posts are to come this week! If you have any requests, please e-mail me or comment them down below! You can also always contact me through social media; my accounts are all always linked above.

Moving on to some highlights from the past few weeks:

I went even blonder this past week and am loving it so far!
My Alpha Phi Omega brothers gave me our mascot to take care of this week for all of the work that I've been doing for rush/etc. and I couldn't be more grateful! I've met so many awesome people through it and I can't wait to get some newbies during rush!

Red, White, & Boom.
CM and I went on Saturday and had a ball! We ran into a ton of other BU students, and got to see Jordan Rager, Granger Smith, Thomas Rhett, and Jason Aldean. Plus, Thomas Rhett also pulled Florida Georgia Line and Cole Swindell on stage for a couple of songs. It was truly and awesome night!

My obligatory First Day of School picture!

Another post-blonde pic. CM and I cheered on the Cards for an amazing win Friday night and are super excited because ESPN College Gameday is coming to the Ville on Saturday! We can't wait to be apart of the fun! Also I think it's worth mentioning, that the shirt that I'm wearing is actually from my mom's college cheerleading days over 30 years ago! i love that I'm able to incorporate it into my wardrobe!

I hope you're all having an amazing Monday, I'll be sure to post more this week!

College Translations || What we say Vs. What we mean

I wrote this post last year sometime and never published it. I've only been back at school for a couple of weeks, but I already find myself thinking these things on a daily basis.
What is something you say vs. mean?

"Did you read?"
I didn't read

"I skimmed it"
 I didn't read

"Yeah, I studied for like 7 hours on Sunday"
I opened the book at noon and then watched 6 episodes of Grey's Anatomy

"I'm gonna stay in tonight"
I'm probably going out

"Yeah, we're friends"
I had a class with them first semester Freshman year

"Oh my gosh I love that professor!"
There were open book quizzes and they made a study guide.

"I think I did pretty well on the test"
I wrote a lot on the short answer, so I probably didn't fail

"I skipped class to study"
I slept through class

"I had a family emergency"
I slept through class

"No, she's not mad at you!"
She might be, but even if she is I wouldn't tell you

"I worked out this morning, I'm really tired"
No I don't want to hang out with you

"I LOVE working out!"
Sometimes I go to the gym during the men's basketball conditioning

"I'm gonna take a nap"
I'm going to watch Netflix and then not fall asleep

"Oh I know him"
I stalked him on social media last week

"What's your name again?"
I know your name, but I'm trying to get you to talk to me

"Hey, we should trade numbers so we can study together"
I may or may not ask you out next week

"It was pretty low key"
We got back to campus before 2AM

"Mom, I miss your cooking!"
Please send me a care package of Easy Mac and Cookies

"Hey Dad, How was your day?!"
I need money

"I'm on a diet"
They were serving fish nuggets so I didn't eat lunch today

"We should clean"
I'm acknowledging the fact that my side is a mess

Back to College with Country Club Prep

Sorry for the radio silence over here for the last couple of weeks. I moved into my dorm last weekend and have been surprisingly busy since then! My friends and I are definitely trying to pack in some more summer fun before school gets too crazy. (the inevitable for me this year). Going forward, I would expect 2-4 blog posts per week, and hopefully one video a week.

Today I thought I would share some of my back to school essentials all from Country Club Prep. I am Bellarmine's campus ambassador to CCP and have been shopping there since my junior year of high school! I have a 21% off code to share with my readers if you want to shop too! Just e-mail me and I'll be sure to send you the code!

What are your back to school essentials? Comment down below and let me know!

Sophomore Year Dorm Inspiration

Just prepare yourself for a lot of back to school themed posts coming up.

Going in to freshman year of college, my style was pretty preppy, and I was a little obsessed with Reese Witherspoon's Draper James decor, so my dorm had a lot of Navy, light blue, and floral prints in it. This year, I'm falling into a much more simple and plain style. I want my dorm this year to be mostly black and white, but still welcoming and inviting! I have a bunch of things that would go with this theme already from last year, like a ton of grey, silver, and gold decor. I may even re-use my navy comforter because I'm planning on lofting my bed!

Like I said, this year I really want to focus more on keeping things super simple. The "theme" I'm trying to stick to this year is pretty monochromatic and a little glam. As you can see in the collage above, the only color comes from a bright pink throw blanket. Lord only knows I don't need another blanket, but I plan on incorporating color through other decor pieces!

I really love this chair not only for the pattern, but also for the functionality. My mom really wanted me to have more seating in my dorm this year, and this is a pretty side chair that also lays flat. I like this or maybe a furry butterfly style chair.
I love this tapestry that I found from Society 6. They have literally every design on the planet for tapestries, or even pillows, prints etc. I love this Chanel quote, or this one, or this black and white option. They also have marble ones! They're available in multiple sizes too which is nice.

Near my desk and above my bed I plan on hanging these bulb style twinkle lights. They're selling fairly long strands at target right now, and I love using them in place of the harsh overhead lighting in dorms.

This shelf acts as storage for books, snacks, toiletries etc. but also as a surface to house my beloved Keurig, my pride and joy, my best friend. I'm just kidding (not really). I have some metallic frames that will look great on top as well. It's also super inexpensive, so if worst comes to worse, I can leave it at school, or pitch it after one year.

This gets me really excited to move in one week from today!!

College Packing Advice

Sorry for the little hiatus I took there, My family and I spent an extended weekend in Wisconsin last week, and Monday I woke up with a cold and allergies. Not exactly my favorite way to spend the last weeks of summer.

Today I'm going to be sharing some college packing tips! I move in a week from Sunday (eek!) and although I haven't really started packing, I obviously will start soon. Last year, even though I waited until the last minute to pack, I feel like I did a pretty good job. I think the major key is to put everything in a logical place. When packing at the last minute, it's easy to just start throwing things in plastic bins or garbage bags and sort it out when you get to school, but when you try and pack this way, you're more likely to forget stuff and you're much more disorganized.

+ Start with a packing list. Decide on sections Tops, pants, shoes, toiletries etc. and write out everything your plan on bringing (also make a list of things to purchase when you get there - larger items, mirrors, plants, etc.)

+ Reference your list as you pack. I actually color coded my packing list with highlighters. If something was going in a plastic bin it was yellow, clothing that hung in garbage bags purple etc. This way I could keep track of where everything was going, and I knew when everything was packed.

+ Listen to your parents. If your parents have ideas on how to pack, listen. My dad loves to think of innovative ways to store, pack, or organized things, so I let him pack the entire car. I wouldn't have been able to fit anything in if I had packed it.

+ Less is more. Trust me when I say that I wish I had brought less to school last year. It's not that I what I brought was wrong, or wasn't useful, it was just that at times I felt a little overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in my room. I lived in a pretty large dorm room and had plenty of storage, but when it came to packing up to go back home, I was so overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that had amassed in my room.

+ Do your research. Get pictures of your dorm room, see what you have room for, try and figure out how you're going to configure the furniture (if it's movable) and talk to your future roomie. It's also helpful to read blog posts or go on Pinterest to see what you really do and don't need. See 5 Things I used the most my first week here.

+ Don't stress - too much. I would not recommend waiting until the day before you leave to pack (even though lets be honest, I'll probably do that this year again), but don't stress out too much about it! Worst comes to worse, you can always purchase things when you are at school, or online - Amazon Prime Student is the GOAT. You can even have your parents ship you stuff.

Good luck packing and moving in!

What I'm up to:

Happy Tuesday! It took alll the strength I had not to crawl back under my covers and sleep for a few more hours this morning. (Thanks to a late night Bachelorette viewing party), but I got up and I made it to work without a costly trip to Starbucks, so I call that a win.
Here is what I've been up to:

+ Hair Cut: My mom, Aunt and I went for haircuts yesterday, and I feel so revived! There's nothing like a great trim and a blowout to make you feel confident and put together!

+ Wisdom Teeth: Yesterday I went to a consult to get my wisdom teeth taken out, and lets just say, not that I've seen the scans, I know why my orthodontist kept nagging me about them :/ I'm definitely not looking forward to the procedure, I have a LOT of medical anxiety thanks to last spring's graduation surprise, but I trust that my doctor will do a great job!

+ Bachelorette: I won't reveal any spoilers, but are you happy with Jojo's choice? I think I am, after he proposed, they seemed much more in love and into each other than the producers made it seem on the show. I can't wait for bachelor in paradise tonight! It's always super entertaining. Comment down below your thoughts!

+ Nick Jonas & Demi Lovato: I got last minute tickets to the Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato concert tonight and I'm super pumped to go with my cousin AC! I'm not sure where we're sitting, but I was just talking about how much I wanted to go, I'm super excited to be able to see it!

+ Real Talk: As my mom and I were stuck in traffic yesterday, we got in to some really good "real life" discussions. It was super fun to be able to talk about her life when she and my dad were dating, relationships, friends etc.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Friday 5

Congrats are in order fort he first blogger I ever started following: Katie Krysh! she had her second son on Wednesday, Grayson! I'm so excited for her, Billy, Camden and Rocky and wish them the best of luck!

After much deliberation, I finally  purchased my agenda for this school year. With my love affair with Google Calendar, I was having trouble deciding what I wanted to use this year. I wasn't in love with this season's Lilly planners (on the inside, the covers are GORGEOUS) I wasn't thrilled with the Kate Spade planner I used last year, and wasn't sure if Erin Condren would work for me. Enter: Day designer. I wasn't sure if Day Designer was something I would be interested in, so I printed off a weeks worth of the daily planning sheets from their website, and low and behold I loved it! The one catch was how expensive the planners are. $60 is a lot to spend on a planner that I may only use for a few months, so I ended up purchasing the daily planner from the Blue Sky-Day Designer collaboration at Target.

Lucky for me I love the gold speckled design. Best part? It was only $20, much less expensive than any planner I've purchased in the past!
Don't be alarmed that it's not listed online anymore, I believe they're restocking the stores often as mine had plenty of the daily style!
You can also purchase here!

My "The Little Red Flag" giveaway ends Sunday, so make sure you're entered! There are plenty of opportunities! Also, if you see something else in the store you have to have, my readers have a special 20% off code : NorthShore20 that expires Sunday as well!

Click the logo to go to my channel!
Check in tomorrow on the blog and on my Youtube channel for a new video!

I'm not quite sure what kind of audience I have here, but I know that some of you are college students, so each Friday 5 until election day, I will be giving one reason for you to vote!
Make sure you are registered to vote in your district, or make plans to vote early like me! As a political science major, I literally live for elections and everything and anything political, so do it for me!
Reason 1: People died for you to have this opportunity. From the revolutionary war, to those in the middle-east right now, men and women are dying (not to mention suffragettes who made it possible for women to vote).

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

5 Minute Drugstore Makeup Look

I think I've mentioned this before, but this blog essentially started out as a way for me to express my (young) love for all things beauty and fashion. So today I'm here to share a five minute makeup look to get you out the door in the mornings. As much as I love a trip to Sephora and splurging on makeup now and then, there are so many good finds at the drugstore too!

Cover Girl Clean Matte BB: I just picked this up, and I really like it so far. I apply it with my fingers when I'm in a rush. I really like the coverage and finish for summer.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind "Brightening" Concealer: I've been using this under my eyes in a triangle shape and it's so brightening and pretty! I also have the regular concealer which I like too.
Mini blending sponge: I use this to blend my concealer. I like the size and shape for under my eyes. I also use it while "baking" my under-eyes when I have time.
Maybelline Fit Me translucent powder "Matte & Poreless": I like this powder, especially the staying power.
Real Techniques Powder Brush: I use this with my setting powder, and when I'm in a rush I use it to dust blush and bronzer on as well.
Avon Glow Bronzer: I'm not sure if they still make this, but I believe this one is similar.
Cover Girl Purely Plum blush trio: I love the middle color for summer!
Spoolie: I just comb out my brows, if I have time I'll pencil them in.
L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara: this is my first tube of this mascara, but I'll definitely re-purchase! I love how black this gets my lashes and it's fairly inexpensive.

I picked up this lip balm at Ulta last week per College Prepster's recommendation and I really like it! I chose the Sunny Berry color, and it's the perfect wash of color for every day! I also love how moisturizing it is and the SPF.

What are some of your favorite drugstore makeup finds? Let me know in the comments!

4 Easy ways to Stay Safe in the Sun

outfit details
The height of summer heat is upon us. You know what that means: lots of sun. I've had fair skin my entire life and have gotten burned more times than I can count. I used to be so annoyed by it as a kid and as a result, super careless. I always had painful peeling shoulders, but now I know the real consequences. It's great to be able to be outside all day long, but it's important to stay sun safe. Remember, just a few hours in the sun can end up having life long consequences.

1. Keep your face covered. It's always a great idea to wear a moisturizer with sunscreen in it, but especially so in the summer. The skin on your face is delicate and beautiful, so it's extra important to take care of it! I also love wide brim, baseball, or Panama hats to shade your face. It's super easy to use makeup to even out your complexion if your body ends up darker than your face.

2. Re-apply. I love spray sunscreens because of their ease of use, but it's important to re-apply if you're out in the sun for long periods of time or if you're sweating or in the water.

3. Cover up. If you know you will burn, cover up. Personally, I know my shoulders always burn quickly, so that means I wear a short sleeve top instead of spaghetti straps, or wearing a cover up at the beach if I'm out for a long time.
On a similar note, if you've been out on the beach or at the pool for five hours already, it may be time to cover-up and call it a day. Too-much sun not only is bad for your skin, but call also be exhausting and dehydrating.

4. Drink Water. Once you've got your skin covered, it's important to drink a lot of water. When it's super hot you may be sweating a lot so it's important to replenish yourself with water along with whatever else you may be drinking. It also helps keep you cool and your skin hydrated.

And for the love of God, please don't go to tanning beds.

I hope you are all enjoyed these hot days of summer! Remember to stay safe and keep cool.

Why College Orientation is Important

The summer before my Freshman year at Bellarmine University, I remember being excited beyond belief to move into my dorm and decorate, copy each class's syllabus into my planner, work out in the fitness center, you know, become a real  college student. There was one thing between me and that week: orientation. At BU orientation happens the week before classes start, so once you move in, you still have a few days before you start school. To me, orientation was an obstacle. Something I wanted to rush through or skip all together so I could get into a routine. In hindsight, it was probably just my usual over-excited and anxious self wanting to finally begin what I had been waiting for for the last 18 years. NBD.

Looking back, I enjoyed orientation so much. BU does an amazing job of keeping you so busy and wearing you out every day that you don't have time to be annoyed or anxious about school starting. I met so many people, whether just a casual introduction where I immediately forgot their name, or by getting to know girls in line at convocation that would become my close friends and future dorm neighbors. It helped me feel so much more at home on campus that first day when it felt like there were familiar faces all over campus. I felt like I was smiling and waving to acquaintances all day! BU orientation is also great in that you get to know some older students as well in your small group leaders. Hopefully one day I'll be able to be one of the leaders!
Being introduced to tons of different people, playing fun games and listening to cool seminars were only part of the fun. Not to mention the armfuls of t-shirts we received upon arrival! - there's nothing like a free t-shirt to lure a college kid anywhere!
As much as I was a hot, sweaty, tired mess after each day filled with activities, looking back, I'm glad that we had that week of just getting to know the school, each other, and Louisville.

Friday 5

1. Nordstrom Sale.  Unless you've been living under a rock, you would know that the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is going on. (Get the deets here) Today, the sale became open to the public (as opposed to just cardholders) so get yourself over to your nearest local or the site and start shopping! I stayed up last night, thanks to unintentionally over-caffienating, and snagged some items I really had my eye on! I went to the store yesterday to scout some pieces and try them on before buying. I'm glad I did because I decided on these booties over these, and figured out the sizing for this sweater. I am a little sad I missed out on this top in grey, but maybe they will restock! I have my eye on a couple other things too, see the widget on my side bar to see what I'm currently shopping!
You should also check out this Holiday Gift Guide I put together so you can get your holiday shopping done early!

Here is what I picked up:

(click to go straight to the item)

2. Giveaway. Don't forget to enter in my Little Red Flag stationary giveaway! The code "NorthShore20" will also give you 20% off any purchase!

3. Girls Trip. I'm super excited to be heading down to Louisville this weekend for a quick road trip with my cousins! It's set to be one of the hottest weekends of the summer there (never fails), and if all goes as planned, I should be able to see CM while we're there!

4. Kanye, Kim, & Taylor. Not going to lie to you, I've been eating this drama up  since Kim posted on her Snap Story Sunday and the new KUWTK episode came out. I really do live for some good Kardashian drama. Between the RNC and all that's been going on with that (believe me, the poly-sci major in me lives for this drama too) my week has gone by pretty quickly! Not sure what I'm talking about? Catch up here.

5. White Gel Nails. I think I've mentioned this before, but my mom and I have been getting no-chip manicures this summer to spend time together and unwind. Two weeks ago I got "Alpine Snow" aka white, by OPI and I'm loving it! It still looks so crisp and clean, and hasn't chipped or cracked yet! (knock on wood).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
P.S. No new video tomorrow, but have you watched my most recent vlog?

Tecovas Boots First Impression

I may have only gotten my boots in the mail a few weeks ago, but I already want to tell you how much I love them. No, this isn't a sponsored post (I wish!) but I'm truly impressed with this company and want to share! The whole platform of their company is providing handcrafted, well-made boots at a lower cost than most retailers. By cutting out the middle man (a storefront or brand-name retailer) they keep the costs low and the quality high.
The pair that I purchased is the Jamie in Bourbon calf leather. I would say they fit very true to size. I usually take about a 9 in boots/shoes/sandals and an 8.5 in Heels. There is plenty of room for thicker socks when colder weather comes along as well.
I took a big gamble when I wore these for the first time. I was planning on wearing them for a 8 hour party when I was up in Canada because the housewarming was outside and on a huge chunk of land. We hiked down to the river and back two times and I felt like I was wearing slippers. I was expecting to have to change into my sandals at some point, but I was in no pain! There was no "breaking in" pain or anything of the sort. I walked/ hiked over 5 miles and had zero issues! See hoe I styled them here.
So far I'm very impressed with the quality, fit, and comfort of my boots and am very excited to style them in the future!

Save Vs. Splurge

Hey everyone! Popping in today to share a great save vs. splurge.
I shared these sandals a month or two ago that I picked up in the city when my heels were hurting!
I found a more expensive pair of these sandals, and while the cheaper pair are great, I love the style so much, investing in the splurge may be worth it!

I'm selling three new with tags Lilly Pulitzer pieces on Ebay, all for prices lower than retail, so be sure to check them out!

2. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I'm super excited to be pursuing the internet aisles of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
I've found so great picks so far and shared some yesterday night. Be sure to follow me on Bloglovin' or my other social medias (Insta: @NorthShoreProper Twitter: @NorthShoreBlog) to keep up with even more picks by category.
below are some of my favorite picks so far all under $100!

I've started season 2 of VEEP (I know I'm behind) on Amazon Prime this week and I love it. I've loved Julia Louis-Dreyfus since I was little and I watched Seinfeld with my dad. She is so great on this show, and I can never turn down a good political show! Just beware, the language is pretty crude, so be careful of your audience.

I've loved Youtube for years now, like, we're talking since 2010, and I'm very excited to be putting up videos on my channel every week now! I'll be uploading a "Day in my Life" style vlog tomorrow, so make sure you're following along here or on Youtube so you catch it! If you're looking for more to watch, I highly suggest Danielle Marie. She has an amazing sense of fashion, and for only being 17 years old, she is so wise and motivational, y'all should seriously check her out!

Hope y'all enjoyed, have an amazing weekend!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: first impressions

So, it's officially one of the craziest shopping days of the year. No, not Black Friday or the Saturday before Christmas, I'm talking Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I've taken the liberty of perusing the pre-sale that is going on right now. If you have a Nordstrom card, you can shop the sales now!I'm restraining from opening a debit card with them, but if you do so, you get a $20 Nordstrom note (essentially a giftcard) to spend on a purchase of over $100 the same day.

I compiled a group of things that I would purchase, all but one being under $100! I have a feeling these booties and jeans will be making their way to my house verrry soon.

All of these items are such classic "necessity" pieces that you really can't go wrong! I can see myself wearing any of these pieces time and time again, through every year and season.

I've wanted a "real" beautyblender for a while now instead of the one I've been using, although I love that too! This pullover is such a staple piece, and I love how they have it styled on the site without a top underneath, I think it shows just the perfect amount of skin and would be so pretty for going out in the winter! I'm a tote gal, and this black one is so chic and at under $50, it's a steal.
I'm serious about those booties though... gimme. In ALL.THE.COLORS.

Snail Mail + GIVEAWAY w/ The Little Red Flag

One of my favorite ways to keep in touch with High School friends while I'm away at school is by sending them snail mail. One of my best friends and I wrote back and forth all year and it was so fun to receive little surprises in the mail! She goes to school down in New Orleans, so she even sent me some Mardi Gras beads after the festival!

So when a fellow Louisville blogger reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in working with her, I was so excited! Leslie from The Little Red Flag creates beautiful and super fun mailable gifts. I just gave this gift to my friend for her birthday, and she loved it!

Today I'm giving away this beautiful set of handmade notecards and envelopes. If you're like me and are going back to school soon, they are the perfect way to show your friends from home just how much you appreciate them! In case you don't win the giveaway, you can purchase more here, and use the code "NorthShore20" for 20% off your entire order, how great is that!

Black & White & On the Beach

On our trip to Canada over the 4th, we stayed at my Dad's sister's house on Lake Simcoe in Ontario and we had such beautiful weather! I've felt so deprived of the sun working inside all summer and being out on the water certainly satisfied my itch.

When shopping for the trip, I came across this amazing romper and once I saw the price tag, I knew I needed it. Coming in at under $15 I think everyone should run out and buy it! I don't think I wore any color on our entire trip (except a pin shirt on the car ride home) and I'm loving the monochromatic life. This romper is a perfect coverup like I wore it here, but pair it with some strappy black sandals and a cute clutch and it's perfect for an outdoor dinner!
I finally bit the bullet and picked up this Panama hat, and while at Target got roped in to the swim section and came out with two adorable suits! I love this black and white one. V my aesthetic. If you can't find it online in your size, check in stores!

Beauty Wishlist

It never fails that as soon as I tell myself I should start saving more, I fall in "love" with 30,000 new things. Recently I've been on yet another beauty kick, and let's just say, I shouldn't be let near a Sephora or Ulta. I do pretty much the same thing to my face every morning with only a few variations, so I really don't need any new makeup but....

Once a beauty addict, always a beauty addict.
I may seriously may need to pick up this Too Faced set though, I've wanted to try so many of these products! Also this Anastasia palette looks so beautiful, I may need that too...
