Planner Woes

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm having a bit of trouble choosing an agenda this year. I've had a Lilly Pulitzer agenda for the past three years of high school, but I can't decide if I want another one this year.

As you can see, there are far too many options out there and I simply cannot decide which one to choose! And then there's the new layout for Erin Condren, and I can't decide if I like the horizontal or the vertical layout better.
The biggest problem with this whole thing is that I have no idea how I'm going to want to organize my agenda in college. I'm anticipating it being very different from high school, but I'm not sure how I should organize my agenda. I'm also not sure what activities I'll be participating in, so I have no idea how much room I'll need. As a control freak, all of these unknown are driving me insane! For now, last years planner will be just fine!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hey everyone! Thank goodness we're already half way through the week! It's been my first week back to work, and I'm so happy to be back on a semi-normal schedule and not be sitting on the couch all day. Today I thought I'd share some of what I've been loving recently!

{Lemon Bars}
I shared this recipe for lemon bars a while back, and I made another batch over the weekend -- They're already gone! I love lemon bars and think they're such a delicious treat to make in the summer.

{Reese Witherspoon's Style}
Reese Witherspoon has the best street style. She's been rocking her new Draper James line recently as well.

Her blouse + dress
{Morning Routine}
Recently, I've gotten a little obsessed with planners. Between trying to choose which planner to purchase for school and watching planner videos on youtube -- these people are crazy obsessed with their planners and they're gorgeous!
{Clear Sunglasses}
I love these sunglasses that I purchased from Charlotte Russe last week. They're super trendy, but very inexpensive, so even if the fad fades quickly, I didn't spend a lot on them.
{Reading}
I have so many books that I've started this year and haven't finished, so I'm trying to finish them all up. I've also received a couple of books as gifts recently and can't wait to read those as well!
Currently, I'm finishing up:
  • One L by Scott Turow
  • Yes Please by Amy Poehler
  • The Harry Potter Series
{Orphan Black}
The season finale of one of my favorite shows - Orphan Black - was on Saturday, and it was really good. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a new show to watch. It's on BBC America and it's a little bloody, but it's such a good show you can over look it.

Rainy Day Style

I don't know about you guys, but it's been pretty rainy on the North Shore recently! Luckily, it hasn't gotten too hot yet *fingers crossed* and everything is so gorgeous and lush green! One of my favorite things about the rain? Rain boots. Hunter boots have taken the North Shore by storm and I think I'm probably one of the only girls left without some. I do have my monogrammed rain boots which I think are much more original as I've never seen anyone else with them! They're from Lands End a couple of years ago and I get my fair share of use out of them!

Today's weather inspired me to create this look! Although it's warmer than most days, I think this outfit would still fly for a rainy day. With the wind sometimes, the jacket could even be necessary!

These yellow hunter boots are so precious! I might have to pick up a pair to bring with me this fall!
And check out this awesome pick for fall, it would make a perfect pair with the boots!

LISTS on LISTS on LISTS

I may have mentioned this before, but I love making lists. Even if I'm really stressed out about something that's going on, even something as simple as making a list can help relax me for a minute.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the most organized, but I do HAVE to be organized in certain aspects of my life, for example: my agenda, and my lists.

This year I created a list *shocker* of things that I can't forget to bring to college that aren't on a typical packing list such as tape or a lint roller, and another thing on the list? List paper.

Personally, I prefer larger paper such as college ruled lined paper for making lists. That way, I'm not limited by space and if I want to double up, I can. I also like small notebooks because they keep everything together.

Last year for Christmas, one of my favorite gifts were notepads from Ben's Garden.
I love the quote on the top, and the black border is a really cute touch.

I also love this design, and this one!
These could make amazing graduation gifts!

Last one I promise, but I love this tray, and you can order in a ton of sizes!

In my beloved Lilly Pulitzer agenda, there are a few pages of note paper in the front, but I'm very stingy with this paper and hardly ever use it. I only like to keep very permanent lists here instead of daily ones. The only lists I have in there right now are my college packing brainstorm list that I mentioned above and my list of books to purchase. Talk about selective.

I feel a little odd talking about pens on my blog, but let me tell you, Papermate "Flair" pens are my favorites! I love to take notes with the black pens, and use the colorful ones in my agenda! I colored everything! I've heard great things about the "le pens" as well, but the Papermate pens are so accessible as you can purchase them at Walgreens, Target, or any office store!

Are you list obsessed as well?

(as you can see, I can go on and on about them ;) )

Saturday Shops

I was at the mall on Thursday, and I have to say, I've missed it. There is so pretty adorable stuff out there right now, and I just had to share some of it with y'all! Some of these things are things I purchased, and some are things I wish I had -- the summer is still young.

Have you been to the mall lately?

The Prettiest Chair

Alright, so I guess I'm just in a pretty mood because here I am blogging about more pretty things! Last week I blogged about a pretty bundt pan, and here I am talking about a pretty chair! You might as well call me an old lady and sign me up to drive car pool.

My mom and I were at Target on Sunday and I found the most gorgeous chair for over 70% off, under $60! It's absolutely gorgeous and will look perfect in my room once we paint it (grey I'm thinking). Since I'll be moving away in a couple of months, I'm excited to make my room more mature and friendlier for guests!

The chair is on-sale on the Target website as well!

Sunflowers in June || Outfit of the Day

I really love sunflowers. They're so bright and cheerful, and as you can tell from these photos, it hasn't been very cheerful here in Chicago. It rained almost every day last week! These sunflowers were for a friend who got her wisdom teeth out last week but I decided to include them in my post!
I got this sweatshirt for my birthday this year and I think it's too cute! I love the pleats at the bottom and how they complement the tennis shoes! It makes for the perfect casual summer outfit. It's also a little thicker which makes it perfect for chilly summer nights.

Graduation

A couple of days late, here I am with my graduation pictures and details from my outfit!

Dress - Shoes - Ring (Vintage) Similar

I almost wore these sandals, but I was still a little shaky walking, so I went with my flats.

Inspiration: Reese Witherspoon

If you know me in real life, you'd know that I've been obsessed with Reese Witherspoon ever since I first saw Legally Blonde when I was really little. Legally Blonde is such an amazing, inspirational movie and I would categorize it as an all time favorite. I mean, my goal right now is to end up at Harvard Law! Anyways, if there's one thing that I love the most about Reese, it's her fashion sense. She's really been nailing it on and off of the red carpet in the past few years. There are very few outfits she wears that I wouldn't. Of course with the launch of Draper James, her new lifestyle site, she's made her looks even more accessible.

Today, I thought I'd share some of my favorite looks!

Her classic pointed-toe stilettos and huge sunglasses are too cute and so flattering.

Also, can we just take a moment to worship her lipstick collection:

All of these photos came from my Pinterest! Make sure you're following me to see all of the outfit inspiration I pin!

The Prettiest Bundt Pan

Call me a weirdo, but I think that this bundt pan is just the prettiest! It's so different from the typical rounded bundt pan and has an almost art deco feel.

I think this recipe would be delicious and look gorgeous in the pan! Raspberry and lemon is such a fun summery flavor and would be a delicious dessert for a summer dinner party!

Update

So, remember how a couple of posts ago was all about being done with High School? Well it was a good thing I was because May 28th I ended up in the ER with a collapsed lung. I got home last week after a lovely 8 day stay on the pediatric floor of the Hospital and was able (thank God) to walk across the stage at Graduation yesterday.

Back to the collapsed lung:

Spontaneous Pneumothorax -  spontaneous collapsed lung.
(usually caused by "blebs" on the outside of your lung -- little soap-looking bubbles -- that pop causing a hole. Common in lanky teenagers)

When I was admitted to the ER after I quick trip to the pediatrician and chest X-Ray, I was told that my right lung was 90% collapsed -- the weirdest part? I felt fine. Although my chest was a little heavy/ tight, my first guess for what was wrong was not that one of my lungs was completely collapsed.

The surgeon gave my parents two options for immediate treatment: insert a chest tube in my side to suck the air out of my chest cavity and inflate the lung so it would seal back to my chest wall, or go into a full surgery and "laparoscopically" staple part of my lung off and remove the rest of the "blebs" that cause a pneumothrax. He said the chest tube is what he would do if it were his daughter, so that's what my parents chose.

That Thursday, I had the chest tube placed two times, as the first placement was incorrect, under local anesthetic and morphine. Fun. (I later learned that Chest tubes are one of the most painful procedures/ things you can have.)

Pain of getting it put in and afterword, maybe a 6.

By Monday, they expected my lung to be fully inflated and sealed to my chest wall. Well, that's not what happened. After placing the chest tube, my lung immediately expanded to 75% inflated (because of the vacuum the tube creates), by Monday, I was only at 80%. They decided surgery would be the best option for fixing my lung.

Monday morning at 11 O'clock I went into laparoscopic surgery to staple off the hole in my lung and remove remaining blebs. The surgery went perfectly and my right lung is officially "cured" aka this won't happen again to my right lung.

At this point, I still had a chest tube in to be sure that my lung stayed fully inflated. That stayed in for 48 and came out on Wednesday. I finally came home June 4th.

I'm still feeling a little nauseous at times and have a very small appetite - most likely side-effects of the anesthesia, but am in no pain, and didn't even need any pain killers I was sent home with!

I hope to return to my normal blogging schedule this week! Sorry for the large break there!

Tomorrow check back for graduation pictures!
