Quantity V. Quality

As I'm getting closer and closer to leaving for college, I've been thinking more and more about building my wardrobe. One thing I want to work on is buying more quality pieces that I know will last a long time, rather than cheaper pieces that are poorly made. I think it's important for a women to have good quality clothes that will last her a lifetime.
Here are some pieces I love:

PS: after spending most of last week out sick from school, I'm feeling much better. I have fluid in both of my ears so it's pretty difficult to hear, but my antibiotics are clearing that and my sinus infection up, so I should be as good as new soon!

Under the Weather

Currently sitting on the couch this lovely President's Day feeling like I've been run over by a truck. Lovely. I hope I feel better when I wake up tomorrow, if I can even move from my bed, but for now I'm feeling pretty terrible. It's only February and I feel like this has been my unhealthiest year yet. I was sick the second half of winter break and I'm already sick again. I hoping that getting more sleep and eating a little healthier will help me to stay healthy the rest of this year.

Here are my sick day essentials:

Today I wanted to spotlight 5 (okay 6) very last minute Valentine's Day gift ideas!
I'm forever alone and will just be going to see a movie with a friend tonight and then hanging out with my family tomorrow, but if you actually have to buy a gift, it can be pretty difficult!
Here are some cute things I found:

So, what will you be giving this Valentine's day?

Madewell Cuff Bracelet

Hey guys, just a wanted to share the bracelet that I'm wearing today. It was a gift from one of my friends for my birthday and I love stacking it with other bracelets like I did today! It's from Madewell and It's still available, so I wanted to share it with you guys!

Stripes & Turquoise || Outfit of the Day

Guess what? Only one more day until Friday, or as I like to call it, Fri-yay.
Yesterday, we threw a baby shower for our Spanish teacher who is due in less than a month.
We've had the same teacher for all four years of high school, and we're going to miss her so much!
They haven't found out the gender of the baby, so we decided to wear blue and pink based on which we thought it would be. I think it's going to be a boy, so I took it as the perfect oppurtuinity to wear my turquoise Kendra Scott Danielle earrings!
This dress is so comfortable! It's made out of a sweatshirt/ terry cloth material but still looks a little dressier. I got in back in the fall, but I think you could style it in any season! It was a balmy 38˚ yesterday, so it was pretty much a heat wave and I took it as an oppurtuinity to not wear tights/ panty-hoes because I'm in high school so why not? I wear an x-small in this dress, but could have worn a small if I needed to, so I'd say it fits fairly true to size as Target normally does. Adding the small chambray belt can add a little shape, because it can be a little a little boxy in the waist area.
Some people may not like the riding boots with dress look, but I think it's a cute alternative to the classic heel in cooler temperatures!

Dress - Target
Belt - Old Navy
Bangles - Alex and Ani, Local Boutique, and the Prickly Pear Boutique (Louisville KY)
Boots - Nine West
(and of course, my fitbit)

Sunglasses Obsession

I will admit to many unhealthy obsession. Diet Coke, Chick-Fil-A, Scandal, but there is one you may not have figured out about me: Sunglasses. I feel like I have 200 pairs of sunglasses floating around my room at any given time.
Although I don't have any high-end pairs of sunglasses, a pair of Ray-Bans have been on my wishlist forever!

Here are some sunglasses I've been loving lately:

Valentine's Nails

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching (like in 3 days eek!) so I thought I'd share some V-Day appropriate nail colors! Of course I'll be wearing OPI Lincoln Park After Dark which is, obviously, very dark (like my soul), but there are tons of adorable options out there!

All from Essie
What will you be sporting on your nails this valentines day?

Dance Class Commute || Outfit of the Day

On your average day, I typically look put together when I go out. When I go to dance however, I throw caution to the wind and usually look like a crazy person when I'm walking through the parking lot. This Saturday, I went to get my car washed after dance and I got some curious looks in my bootie shorts, tights and Uggs considering it's February.

I wear my J.Crew Herringbone vest every chance I get, so whenever I'm wearing grey or black, I'm probably wearing this vest too.

Here is what I typically wear on my way to dance:

Hat - J.Crew (old)
Vest - J.Crew Factory (sold out)
Bag - Longchamp
Scarf - Target
Boots - Ugg Australia

What's in my Clutch?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a little nosey. I love finding out what other people carry in their purses. For some reason I just find it so fun! I thought I'd share what I've been carrying around in this adorable clutch that I got for Christmas from Marley Lilly.
It's very functional because it holds more than you would think, but is still small enough to be considered a clutch. You can remove the chain to just carry in your hand, but I leave the chain on most of the time.

As you can see, there's nothing super exciting in my clutch, but I thought I'd at least
share it!

+ I love those little starlight mints that they give out at restaurants. They always have some where I work so I always take the oppurtuinity to stock up!
+My phone is a Motorola Droid Razr M. My contract is up this month, so hopefully I'll be upgrading to an iPhone soon!

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

I've Got My Eye on You

I've been doing quite a lot of window shopping (can you still call it that even though it's online?) lately because I'm trying to save as much as I can before I head off to college in a few months, but oh my word are there some cute things out there right now!
Here's what I've got my eye on right now:

I think the scarf, booties, pearls, and pink sweater are my favorites right now!
What have you been eyeing?

Workout Wear

Biggest motivation to work out? A new gadget, or cute workout clothes. Anybody else in this boat with me? One thing I found while browsing through these site was a trend in stripes. Stripes are probably my favorite pattern to have on clothing, so the idea that I can wear it while I work out is really amazing.
They opened a new yoga studio a couple of miles from my house, and I've been dying to try it! If I can get myself to commit to a dedicated workout regime, maybe I'll splurge on a couple of these cute pieces.

This Lulu Lemon top is probably my favorite along with the striped waistband leggings.

Here are all of the pieces pictured above, plus a few more!
- Fun fact: Old Navy is one of my favorite places to purchase workout wear! -

Winter Essentials

If you live in the South, this post my be irrelevant to you. If you live in the North, this post may be the most relevant thing you'll read today. For all of you southerners out there let me explain: The northern states are currently in a season called Winter in which it snows every other day, and temperatures never tip over the 30˚ mark. It's brutal, but if you're a tough cookie, or you lived here all your life like me, it's not so bad. However, in order to survive such dismal conditions, there are a few necessities.

*Necklace - great way to spice up and outfit/ disguise the fact that you're actually frozen

*Heated blanket - essentially my favorite thing on the planet. I have this exact one!

*Hand Cream - this one is my favorite and the perfect size to throw in your car, purse, or even a small clutch!

FitBit Charge HR

Hey guys! Just a quick post, today after school, I finally tracked down the FitBit that I've been lusting after since before Christmas! The FitBit Charge Heart Rate Monitor! My mom and Aunt are both obsessed with their FitBit Flexes, and when I saw they were coming out with a new one that was geared more towards tracking work outs, similar to a Polar watch, I was sold! I found mine at Dick's Sporting Goods, but they seem to be either sold out or backordered almost everywhere! I was elated when I called and they told me they had it in stock.

I plan on updating you guys with my thoughts on it this year, but as I just got it today, I can't really share a true opinion yet!

I got in a size Small (if you're not sure I'd say size up. It runs very small) in Black. The slate color is super cute too though!

On Trend: Leather Totes

I'm probably way behind on blogging about this, but for those of you who have not been on Pinterest in approximately 450 years, leather tote bags are all the rage. I've seen basically every blogger talk about them if not share multiple outfits featuring them, so I thought I'd share with you guys some of my favorite totes, and some adorable outfits I've seen including them!

As you can see, there are totes in pretty much any price range! And okay, you got me, Longchamps aren't all leather, but I couldn't really go this whole post without at least mentioning them, right!?
I think my personal favorites are either the Madewell or Tory Burch Totes.

These are so versatile from throwing your school work in them to run to the library, heading to a job interview, or simply running around town! The great thing about the leather is that you know they'll be durable and last a long time, and as long as they're neutral, and pretty much be used in all seasons.

Here are some outfits that you can't miss (you can find direct links from my pinterest board here):

I have this sweater too and love it!

So tell me: Which tote is your favorite?

Questions?

Sorry for the late late late post tonight,  but I just wanted to at least get something up today!
Holler for the snow day we had today, and this one was an actual snow day this time, not just a cancellation due to extreme cold. During the Superbowl Sunday, the North Shore was hit with over 18" of snow! We were snowed in today! I of course used my time wisely by watching the very appropriate Frozen sing-a-long before I headed to work in the afternoon.
We had pretty much the best night ever including, coffee in a new mug, a bubble bath, The Bachelor (hello CRAZY TOWN) and Buffalo Wild Wings. Life really doesn't get much better.

Anyways, today I thought I'd ask for some questions so that I can do a Q&A post, or maybe create a FAQ page. I have an About Me page, so be sure to check that out! Comment down below with questions, or use the hashtag: #AskNorthShoreProper on Twitter or Tumblr(or inbox me) and I'll include those as well!
